Abby Lee Miller Says 'Dance Moms' Cast "Can't Face" Her Amid Reunion Drama

There’s a new coach calling the shots.

Dance Moms: A New Era, a reboot of the captivating reality show, promises new dancers, more drama and the former dance mom who is replacing Abby Lee Miller—Coach Gloria “Glo” Hampton.

“This will be the biggest challenge of my career,” Glo said in a voiceover during the July 9 teaser for the Hulu show. “I’m the coach of the next big team.”

The preview featured seven young dancers, with coach warning the room, “I can replace anyone at any time.” The 10-episode season, which will premiere on Aug. 7, will follow the dancers at Glo’s prestigious dance school Studio Bleu as they compete for gold nationally every week.

And while it’s her first time taking the helm of coach on TV, she did appear on seasons three and four of the original series—which ran for nine seasons from 2011 to 2019—with her daughter Kaeli Ware.

The news of the reboot comes two months after Abby's Junior Elite competition team—which included JoJo Siwa, Chloé Lukasiak, Kendall Vertes, Kalani Hilliker, Brooke Hyland and Paige Hyland—came together for their reunion special and reflected on their time filming the Lifetime show, especially their relationship with Abby.

Kalani considered their relationship “a trauma bond.” And JoJo agreed, “It really is, whether that be a good trauma or a bad trauma. It doesn't necessarily mean it's a negative thing, but there's just such a familiarity.”

The group recalled that despite the ups and downs of filming, the experience brought them closer together, even if the cameras didn’t always make it so clear.

Kalani emphasized, “It’s a family thing.”

"We even talk to each other's mothers,” she explained. “People don't even realize how close we are.”

That bond helps the group brush off any comments from critics.

“So I always think it's funny when people write so many negative things about us and our relationships with each other,” Kalani continued, “because we are all so close and everything that what other people say, it doesn't matter, because we've gone through so much together, our moms, us, everything."
